26

25 was a great year, in fact one of my best years. I was blessed with the opportunity to learn so much more about myself. One of the most important things that I’ve learnt is that to gain the best experience from this life you have to constantly push yourself out of your comfort zone, you have to invest time into things that you enjoy doing, and you have to continue to self reflect and remain in touch with yourself and your surroundings. I decided that this year, I wanted to start off my new year with something that would help me do this.

Hence this blog.

I was always very nervous about the idea of starting my own blog, the main reasons being that, 1. I, in my ignorance, I would put out ideas that were ignorant or uninformed and 2. That while putting my work out there I would have my ideas misread or misconstrued. However after giving it more thought, I’ve realized that as long as I put in both the time and research into my blog posts there is nothing wrong with having an informed opinion and voicing your thoughts and observations about society. Moreover, if something that you write opens up an avenue for discussion with differing opinions, then that’s great, because it allows for growth.

I’ve always been very intrigued about human beings, about our minds and our emotions, and what make us click. I am interested in how we socialize and interact, in how we come up with ideas and how we put them to use. I’m always looking up different things and trying to better understand the micro and macro connotations of these ideas. So the scope of what I talk about will be broad but it will mostly relate back to the human experience.

Finally, since I recognize that I am not a specialist and this is a personal blog I understand I will have a bias. I will research theories and ideas, but the way I view things and understand things will have a bias to my personal beliefs and how I perceive the world. I have decided to lay out my bias, and my belief system here so that there is a better understanding between myself and the reader. Some of my personal beliefs/ideals include:

  1. We come from a unified energy force, and we are all inter-connected within that force. Whether this mean that there is a “GOD”, which is how I choose to believe it, or something else, it is all cohesively present in everything.
  2. I believe that there is both negative and positive energy. I believe the purpose of meditation is to connect to the larger energy flow that is away from your conscious thought processes, and away from what you physically see in front of you every day. From meditating and being “aware” of the energy around you, you understand how to cultivate that energy, and how to draw from something larger than you.
  3. So yes, I believe in the Law of Attraction, which states that you will receive the energy that you transmit out.
  4. I believe that since the Universe is infinite, then every question exists, and because every question exists, so does every answer. However, I believe to live a harmonious life, it is a dance between searching and letting go.
  5. I believe that humans are inherently social and we work and interact with society because we are not meant to be isolated. Also this why isolation may be used as a method of punishment, and may cause deep psychological issues in those that have suffered from it.
  6. I also believe that love is a deep and driving force, and the lack of love can cause deep psychological issues in the sufferer.
  7. Finally I believe that humans are imperfect, and because of that we do not always act in “perfect” ways. This can be in both positive and negative actions.

These beliefs have been formed over time and some have been there from the beginning. They come from my experiences, my religious influence (Sikhi), my family and the environment I have been exposed to. I do believe in fluidity, and a change in opinions based off of growth, but I feel like these beliefs are broad enough that they can contain the growth and changes I will go through in my life (so far).

I may not be writing about all of these individually but they will certainly influence my writing. I do not expect everyone to have the same beliefs that I do or to agree with mine, but I do want them to understand where my ideas are coming from and why I feel the way I do.

Without further ado, welcome to my blog 🙂
